Tarot Articles > My Tarot Cards My Tarot CardsThese are some tarot cards I created myself. I have no intention to create a complete deck, the cards shown here were all created separately, so there is no common theme to them. WandsCups
Ace of Wands
Card DescriptionThis card shows a (mirrored) piece of coral. Coral grows in all sorts of different forms, thus representing both growth and creativity. There is also an element of challenge involved: coral is built up from millions of minuscule polyps that are joined together to form huge structures. It takes courage to undertake such a building project. Artistic MethodI cut an object from an existing, scanned photograph (taken with a non-digital underwater camera in the Red Sea near Dahab, Egypt), and used Paint Shop Pro to manipulate the object and to add the title and the border. Two of Cups
Card DescriptionThere isn't really that much to say about this card. The two fish represent attraction and friendship, and the cups are represented by two sponges. Artistic MethodI cut some objects from two existing, scanned photographs (taken with a non-digital underwater camera in the Red Sea near Dahab, Egypt and in the Caribbean Sea near Cozumel, Mexico), and used Paint Shop Pro to manipulate the objects and to add the title and the border. Five of Cups
Card DescriptionThe words that come to mind when I see the Five of Cups are disappointment and loss. No major life-changing experiences though, there is always something positive as well. There are two glasses in the front that have fallen over and their contents is gone. They indicate that something has been lost. However, there are three more glasses in the background. The nearest one is only slightly filled, whereas the one at the back is completely filled with a richly coloured liquid. So even though there has been a sad loss or disappointment, there are still some positive things as well. But you have to reach out for them, because they are not as close as the negative things. The glasses are set on a cloth decorated with suns. The suns have dark colours: they are not bright yellow, but black or purple. Again, this indicates that even though there may be a disappointment, there is something positive as well; the sun may be dark, but it's still a sun. This card was created for the Second Aeclectic Community Tarot project on Aeclectic Tarot. Artistic MethodI photographed the still life using a non-digital camera, then scanned the photo and added the title and the border using Paint Shop Pro. [ Back to top ]
